MOSHE ADLER - BIO & EXPERIENCE:

Drums & Percussion:

Moshe is a certified Drum Circle Facilitator, having completed the DCF training with Arthur Hull of Village Music Circles in Fall of 2007. With Drum-N-Fun Moshe can facilitate circles for children of all ages, families, communities or businesses. He also offers drum workshops at outdoor festivals and jam band events as well as facilitating outdoor fire circle events and rituals.

Moshe brings 30 years of experience and training in the percussive arts to Drum-N-Fun, along with a true love for drumming and music of all kinds. From banging on pots and pans when there were no drums available, to playing hand drums, drum set, marching band instruments, timpani and other orchestral percussion all the way from junior high through high school, Moshe finds drumming to be a soul satisfying experience. He is especially passionate about leading children to drumming, so that they are able to feel their own heartbeats and express themselves through rhythm and sound.

At George Washington University, Moshe was a Music/Theatre major. He played drum set in a stage production of Grease, as well as pit percussion for many other musicals including Gilbert & Sullivan shows. During this time he also played drum set in numerous bands including classic rock, R&B, funk, reggae and ska.

Moshe began studying West African influenced percussion in 1994 with Babatunde Olatunji. Since then he has studied with Jaqui MacMillan, Arthur Hull, Stream & Baile. Ever since Moshe was exposed to the Fire Circle community in 2005, he has been actively pursuing training opportunities within the several schools and facilitation styles of this extended community.

Working with Children:

Moshe worked in retail during the late 80's through mid 90's. His diverse range of jobs included managing a Washington, DC toy store. He also operated as Assistant Manager of a suburban Maryland video studio; where he specialized in throwing lip-synch video birthday parties. Moshe worked for two summers at Len'hoksin Trail, a Boy Scout High Adventure camp at Goshen Scout camps in VA. At camp he was the Director of a rope course. There he spent days 40 feet up in trees encouraging scouts to accomplish challenging personal feats and leading them as they worked together to solve team building exercises.

In 2003 Moshe worked closely with Special Love in VA. At their retreats for children afflicted with cancer as well as their siblings, he led drum circles. In 2005 he was a co-founding Spiral Scouts leader at Four Quarters Farm in PA. Moshe facilitated drum playshops to help scouts earn their drumming merit badge, while also assisting at meetings and during summer camps. In 2007 Moshe extended himself further and began offering children's drum playshops during outdoor festivals in VA, MD and PA, including three playshops at the Four Quarters Drum N Splash festival.

Moshe continues to facilitate drum circles for diverse youth and adult populations at camps, schools, after school programs & retreats. Drumming for Moshe is not only fun, social, and spiritual, but is also so much more. Moshe's vision is to bring his love of drumming to a broad range of individuals - as a musical "voice", as a deep and meaningful way to communicate, as an educational/cultural tool, as a true emotional and physical release for other issues, and as a team builder.
